Projects - Chesa Albertini, Zuoz

Chesa Albertini

Location: Zuoz     Year: 2006

Chesa Albertini is the first building in a row of three houses in the centre of Zuoz. Archaeological research has revealed that the most ancient part of the building is a medieval double tower structure, which was extended to create a farmhouse after the Swabian War.

In the course of the alterations, the cellar rooms, the cattle barn, the hay loft and the large hallway (Suler) have been turned into exhibition space for the art gallery Monica de Cardenas. The upper floor is used as living accommodation. A distinct new volume contains the essential sanitary facilities and complements the assemblage of chambers stemming from different eras.
